The study of XMRV is still in its infancy. Preliminary studies suggest the virus first initially appeared in the mouse --- at least at some point. Currently, there is debate on the percentage of human blood samples the virus has been found in....The mystery surrounding a retrovirus recently implicated in prostate cancer and possibly chronic fatigue syndrome is beginning to yield clues.
