Squalene is an "additive" in vaccines and has been implicated as a factor in causing Gulf War Syndrome. A recent study shows that vaccines with adjuvant squalene has a minimal immunogenic effect and "anti-squalene antibodies nor their titre is significantly increased by immunization with vaccines containing squalene."
