Environmental toxins cause mitochondrial impairment and oxidative stress in Parkinson's disease.

The toxicity of paraquat and other neurotoxins have been shown to impair electron transport to the coenzyme Q. Therapies that target this process may be beneficial in improving energy production in PD patients, according to an
experimental animal model.
